Bringing a license character to life and taking it from 2d to 3d or making the character graphics work in a new play concept requires an understanding of the toy market and clear direction in the form of a style guide.

Someone's story.

Characters that hold a license are hugely important to those who hold it.  Seen as the guardians of the character, often requiring designs remain within key guidelines.  Whilst creating newness for a known character is important, so too is retaining and being respectful of all of it's existing values.
